Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Inc. (RMRG) is an all-volunteer organization trained and equipped for search and rescue on mountainous terrain in all weather conditions. Founded in 1947, we are Boulder County's primary mountain rescue agency, but upon request also assist other mountain rescue teams outside the county. We also provide outdoor recreation safety education and disaster response services. RMRG is a non-profit IRS 501(c)3 organization and we do not charge for our services.

70th Anniversary Celebration

RMRG Members and former members, April, 2017

RMRG Members and former members, April, 2017

EVENT DETAILS

Friday, October 13 @ 6pm

An informal meet & greet at a local pub.
Stop by to grab a pint, say hello, and get the festivities rolling.
We are shooting for the Southern Sun (or Under the Sun) because that just seems appropriate (but still need to confirm). Just an opportunity to get a beer and chat with folks.

Saturday, October 14 @ noon – 4pm

BBQ for members and families (closed to non-members)
Location: The Cage @ 3720 Walnut St.
RSVP here

Please register if you are coming so we get the right amount of food.

This will be a catered but informal event for current, former members, and families (not just retired members).
We are planning on a Sweet Cow sundae bar for dessert.

Troy will be recording member stories at this event and some interviews of older members. The recording sessions are open to the whole RMRG family so we also want to hear about how RMRG has impacted your life, even if you are not an active member – like the time so and so ran away from the dinner table or missed your birthday party because they were on a rescue.

Saturday, October 14 @ 7pm

Storytelling night (open to non-members)
Location: Twisted Pine Brewery

This event is open to everybody and again is focused at telling the stories of RMRG, but in a way that non-members can take part. Drew Hildner is organizing this (so please be in touch with him if you have ideas) but it will be generally informal and we want members, former clients, and members of the community to be free to tell stories about RMRG which Troy will again be recording. Please be in touch with Drew at ahildner2@gmail.com if you have a story you would like to share or know of a former client (victim) who you know might be willing to share their stories.

Sunday, October 15

RMRG Open House (open to non-members)
Location: The Cage @ 3720 Walnut St.

This event is focused mainly for the public but it would be great to have members there to help. We don’t often open our doors to the public and this is an opportunity to do so, so think of it as a huge show and tell/safety ed event. If Troy is not to exhausted, he will also be doing interviews with the public about RMRG interactions.

If someone would be willing to help with this event – that would be great. I am thinking of litter rides for kids and stuff like that, but only if we can get enough people to help out.
